Unakite is a beautiful blend of red, green and brown/black gemstones that was discovered by the Smithsonian Institution in 1885. This rare blend of minerals is found only in one place on Earth, a region of South Africa near the Orange River. The name Unakite comes from its chemical composition, which contains Uranium and Kaolinite. It is said to be an excellent stone for communication and creativity as well as offering protection from radiation.
